I lost it. I have to find it. No matter what. (Plus some Info about development)

-Info about development-
Hey everyone! I want to apologize for how long it is taking to get Act 1 and its demo out. I believe that you guys deserve to know why its been taking so long, there are multiple reasons why, but I'm just going to go through a couple.

The biggest one was the sort of loop that I got into while developing the game. I started creating a section of the gameplay that I planned out but eventually felt like it was not good enough. This was a couple of years back, and I believe the reason why this happened was most likely because my skills were improving constantly, and because I wanted to create the best version of this game possible, I decided to scrap it and try again. This happened multiple times, and although I didnt progress on the gameplay side, I did progress with the idea side and what I wanted the identity of the game to be. Here is one of those short gameplay ideas I had.

But because the game was taking so long to make, and I wasn't seeing any physical progress, I started to get demotivated to continue working on the game. But, I did not stop, my determination to have this game finished pushed me to create more. Eventually, I realized that I had a perfectionist view of this game. So, instead of making short prototypes, I decided to plan out the ideas in my head and thought if it was good enough or not before making it. But, that turned out to be a mistake. Although I was constantly scrapping gameplay, I was figuring out the game's identity during that time, but just thinking about the gameplay didnt help all that much because I was still stuck in the perfectionist view.

Although this game is taking me much longer than expected, I'm glad that I went through all of this, so now I won't make these mistakes on other projects. My skills from when I first published this game have improved a lot, and I honestly believe that I have the skills to create Obsolete, start to finish. I know that it has been a bumpy road but I'm confident in myself.

So now, I'm going to make sure to allow multiple people to play the gameplay that I create and not try so gosh darn hard. In the past I really wanted the game to end up exactly how I wanted it in my head, but that's not possible without a ton of time, and I'm just one person.

And this leads me to some good news. I'm thinking about making a short video showing off one or two of the mechanics that will appear in the new demo! As well as trying to pushing forward playtesting for you guys. There is a bunch of stuff that needs to be finished before that is ready for you guys (like scripting a short little cartoon). I'm definitely afraid of what people are going to think about it. But I'm also oddly excited. But! before I do, I think I'm going to take a little break from the game. Just to allow myself to settle down a bit. I dont want to burn myself out. I want to make sure to work as efficiently as possible without trying too hard! See you guys when it's out! :D
